Three Speculative Works in Lit Journals: A Snapshot

I have three very different speculative pieces out (or out soon) in lit journals! One is “The Dark Season,” a speculative nonfiction essay published in Epiphany about my life since moving to the Pacific Northwest from Florida, in which I imagine other, sunnier timelines. Buy Issue 33 here. The other is “The Next Ark,” a fiction/poetry/social media hybrid piece that the journal River Styx has classified as nonfiction (and I’m not going to correct them), about an influencer live tweeting the apocalypse. Read this flash piece in its entirety here. And last, “Caring For Your Local Woman,” will be out soon from Waxwing–stay tuned!

Check out this list of submissions for the Lambda Literary Awards, which, according to their website, “identify and celebrate the best lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender books of the year and affirm that LGBTQ stories are part of the literature of the world.” I’m excited that the book I co-wrote with Carol Guess, With Animal, has been submitted to the “LGBT SF/F/Horror” Category, and I’m delighted to be in the company of such a great list of books. And writers, check out the list of publishers at the bottom of the page!
